Take your first steps into competition! This event is designed for those who are thinking about going to tournaments or have only just begun competing.
Join us for a day of learning how competitions and tournaments work!
Events
Y12 (ages 8-12), mixed (all genders), non-electric foil. Check in closes at 10:15am; event starts at 10:30am.
Senior (ages 13+; includes adults), mixed (all genders), non-electric foil. Check-in closes at 12:30pm; event starts at 12:45pm.
Each event will last 2 hours.
Educational Component
Fencers and caregivers will learn about equipment checks, warming up, how pools and direct elimination work, and just about everything else they might encounter when they attend an event.
Caregivers and adult fencers should bring a laptop, smartphone, or notepad since we'll talk about registration, finding events, USA Fencing membership, and a number of other topics.
Parking/Entering
The mall's doors don't open until 11am on Sundays, so use the back door for the Y12 event. Park near Sushi Lover. You'll find the back door to the right of Sushi Lover. That door opens at 9:45.
For the Senior event, use the mall entrance between Sephora and Cheesecake Factory. Once inside, go down the hall and take a left at the intersection. BFC is on the left between Express and American Eagle.
Participant Restrictions
The tournament is free to attend and watch, but participation is restricted to those will little to no tournament experience. BFC members should be at least Intermediate level to participate.
