Saturday Sabre @ RCFC (Staten Island) - August Edition

Saturday Sabre @ Richmond County Fencing Center (Staten Island) - August Edition! Under Proceeds from this tournament will go towards helping Coach Kate on her journey to Veteran World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia!

RCFC announces our next Sabre tournament. This is intended for newer fencers looking to learn about competition. We have full length (14 meter strips). 

Location: Richmond County Fencing Center, Staten Island Mall. New Location in the Mall: We are in the JC Penny Wing on the second floor!

Travel: Parking is free and abundant. Many local buses stop at or near the Mall, including the S44, S55, S56, S59, S79, and S94. 

Just as a reminder, USA Fencing Membership is required, and full safety equipment requirements are in force. Masks will be punch tested, and plastrons, knickers, long socks, and FIE Gloves are required. Since this is an event intended for beginners, we can provide some of the equipment for rental, please see below for more details.

Schedule:

1. Y10 and Y12 Mixed Sabre: 1:30 PM (equipment check @ 12:30 PM) - Y10 Birth years 2016-2019, Y12 Birth Years 2014-2017 (If there is not enough of each age group, the age groups will be combined - please register for the younger of the age groups you are eligible for).
2. Senior E and Under Mixed Sabre: 4:30 PM (equipment check @ 4:00 PM) - Birth years 2012 and earlier (if there are 6 in each gender, event will be split in to men's and women's)

Registration & Fees:

1. $40 per event via askFRED (no walk-ins). Registration closes at 11:59 EST on Thursday, July 16th. 
2. Each event capped at 14 fencers; registration filled in order of payment.
3. Refunds available up to three days before the event starts.

Extras:

1. Meals and snacks available for purchase at the nearby food court
2. Bring water bottles (refill station available)
3. There is a single all-gender restroom and three all-gender changing room on site. The mall has more restrooms in the upper level near the food court.

Equipment Rental:

1. Since this is an event intended for newer fencers, we have some equipment for rental. The two items we will NOT have for rental are long socks and FIE Gloves. 
2. If you need to rent a full set of equipment (not including socks and FIE Glove) that will include: Fencing Jacket, Fencing Pants (Knickers), Mask, Plastron (under arm protector), Lame, Sabre, Body Cord, Head Cord, Chest protector (required for women and girls) the cost is $50.
3. If you need to rent just the electric portion and pants: Lame, Body Cord, Head Cord, Fencing pants the cost is $30.
