2024 NEFC ELITE WINTER CAMP

Coach Young and NEFC continue their tradition of inviting the top international fencers and coaches to Nashville to create intensive training camps that will hone your fencing with the same training received by World Cup and Olympic fencers. This time, Coach Young is proud to welcome his long-time friend and colleague Yang Roe-Sung who has had a remarkable career which will drive the insights he will share at the camp. This exceptional coach's journey boasts incredible achievements, including a prestigious 2nd place at the 1996 London World Cup in the Category A Fencing International Competition and a triumphant 1st place finish at the 2000 Heidenheim Grand Prix Pokal, one of the world's most prestigious epee tournaments. Along with his personal accomplishments, he has been instrumental in the rising success of the S Korean fencers as the national team men's epee coach. He is a two-time Olympian and he and his teams have achieved impressive finishes at the Olympics, highlighted by a 4th place in the Team Event at the Sydney Olympics and commendable performances at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Notably, he most recently coached at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he supported the team to deliver their best performances. We are truly honored to present this remarkable coach. His relentless passion and unwavering dedication have culminated in outstanding success on the international stage, and we are eager to witness his inspiring leadership and mentorship in our camp.

Coach Young and Roe-Sung's expertise in foil and epee fencing at the championship level will be the foundation of an intensive week for improvement in technical and tactical skills. Fencers of all ability levels are welcome at ages 12 and up; the camp will be focused on refinement of elite competition skills.

Tournament Day--Please register separately for the NEFC Holiday Challenge. Coaches Young and Roe-Sung will observe camp fencers while providing insights and encouragement.

Camp Fees (You must pay at the time of registration)

NEFC member: $400

Non-club member: $500

College Student: $275

A rated fencers deduct $50 from registration fee (Non-club member 450, college student 225).

Single day sessions are available for $150/day.

*5% discount for payments made before October 10th.

*20% additional fee for registrations made after December 20th.

Additional Information

- All participants must possess a USA Fencing Membership.

- Campers must wear appropriate clothing, including:

 • Fencers may wear shorts when training but must wear knickers for fencing activities. Long socks are required for fencing.

 • T-shirt (lightweight material).

 • Clean, sturdy walking shoes (including socks).  Campers must bring clean running/athletic shoes to change into when entering the facility. Otherwise, you need to clean the shoes. NO boots, sandals or slip-on shoes can be worn.

- Campers should bring their own water bottle and clearly mark it. 

-Fencing gear can be provided for some fencers if needed; the camp is an elite training camp and it is anticipated that most fencers have competitive experience and their own gear. Please inquire ahead of time if gear is needed.

-Please note that the club sells bottled water($1) and sports drinks($2).

Lunch will not be provided, please bring your own lunch for camp!
