REGIONAL YOUTH CIRCUIT- Y10-Y14 - All Weapons

Open to all USFA members (you can join at the door) and any foreign fencing federation members (bring proof of membership). A signed waiver is required for all fencers; download the attached waiver and present at check-in. This RYC fulfills the qualifying path for Y10/Y12 fencers to compete at Summer Nationals. Attending a SYC or RYC during the 2009-10 season will qualify the fencer in the respective event and age category fenced.
Ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications; these events are NR until they reach C1 level or higher.

NJFA YOUTH CUP
This is the 6th event in the 2009-10 NJFA Youth Cup Series. This is a great opportunity for young fencers to gain valuable tournament experience, whether pursuing Cup prizes or not. All NJFA youth events held September 2009 through June 2010 are eligible for Youth Cup prizes. Medals will be awarded to top 8 finishers in each event. Cup points will be awarded to top 8 places in each event. There is no fence-off for third at this RYC so third place points will be awarded to both 3rd place fencers. Points will be cumulative and prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top 5 point finishers in each event at the last tournament of the series. Prize package this season will include gift certificates to top 5 final places 1st ($125), 2nd ($75), 3rd ($50), 4th ($30), 5th ($25).
Youth Cup events scheduled this season are: Sep 13, Oct 4, Jan 17, March 7, April 11, May 30, June 13. Double points will be awarded Sep 13 and June 13. Note, dates are subject to change.

FEES
Preregistered: $10 registration fee (nonrefundable) plus $35 per event whether paid through FRED or at door. On-line preregistration closes April 10, 2010.
Walk-in (without preregistration): $10 registration fee plus $45 per event
Payments at the door taken via cash or check. NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED FOR DOOR PAYMENTS
Refund requests (event fee only) must be received at least 2 days prior to the event, otherwise no refunds.

ENTRY
Fencers must meet 2009-10 USFA birth year requirements
Y10 = 1999-2002
Y12 = 1997-2000, or on current Y10 NRP List
Y14 = 1995-1998, or on current Y12 NRP List
Note, if your entry is rejected for age and you are on the Points List, e-mail us and we will handle your entry.
A signed waiver is required; download attached waiver and present at check-in. **Photography, filming, recording, or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by the host organization and the USFA. Those individuals wishing to opt out of media coverage must see the Bout Committee.
Valid USFA (or foreign federation mmbership) required - you MUST show your membership card or have proof that payment has been made. You may join the USFA at the door, however arrive with a completed form or plan to come early to complete the necessary paperwork. Parent signature required. Use your credit card for USFA payment.
The USFA is working towards an age verification process. This season, parents should come prepared with ONE of the following in case the fencerâs age needs verification for eligibility purposes:
- A government issued photo ID with date of birth included
- or, a copy of birth certificate
- or, a passport
Full uniform is required, including mask, jacket, plastron, fencing knickers, knee-length socks, lame, and glove. All fencers must wear required fencing attire and MUST bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. NOTE: If you are fencing in a Y10 event you must have a #2 or #0 blade (i.e. less than 32.5 inches long)
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
USFA rules apply.
Initial seeding with National Youth Points/Rating/Year
Y10 Mixed Events (may be gender-separated depending on number of fencers)
Y12/Y14 - Gender-separate events; events with less than 6 fencers may be mixed.
One round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds.
Medals awarded to 8th place.
Fencers are responsible for ensuring accuracy of all posted information and must report errors to the bout committee immediately. Fencer signature on pool score sheets and DE bout slip implies accuracy.

New Jersey Fencing Alliance is located at 50-58 Burnett Avenue (use 54 Burnett AVENUE for Mapquest); Maplewood, NJ. NJFA is conveniently located near all major highways in NJ, NY, CT, and Pennsylvania. NJFA is only a 30-minute train ride from NYC Penn Station via NJ Transit Mid-Town Direct.
