FRED Announces the WWD Mid-Winter Open Dates: 1/31/2004 - 2/1/2004 Location: Tacoma Gonyea Boys & Girls Club Join us for a weekend of fencing in Tacoma! The Mid-Winter Open istraditionally one of the WWD's largest events of the year. Lastyear the turnout was huge and we are expecting a similar turnout thisyear. Following on last year's great success, the Mid-Winter Open is onceagain hosted by the Metro Tacoma Fencing Club. The venue is theTacoma Gonyea Boys & Girls Club (same as last year) - but this timewe will be in the larger gym, which will give us even more spacethan before! See below for driving directions. WWD members will earn points toward the WWD points list based ontheir placement in each event. For complete info, seehttp://www.wwdfencing.org/Events/MidWinter.htm ------------------ Schedule ------------------- Saturday 1/31: 9:00 am -- Doors Open 10:00 am -- Mixed Foil Noon -- Women's Epee 2:00 pm -- Mixed Saber Sunday 2/1: 9:00 am -- Doors Open 10:00 am -- Mixed Epee Noon -- Women's Foil 2 pm -- Women's Saber All times are close of registration. Arrive early to get yourequipment checked! We will be running on a strict schedule so yourpromptness is appreciated. ------------------ Registration Info ------------------ Registration fee is $10 plus $10 per event entered. Tournament fees can be paid in cash or check (US$ only)made out to USFA/WWD. A $5 late fee will be charged if you do not pre-register. There is no penalty for pre-registering and not showing up. Please bring your current USFA membershipcard. You may join or renew your USFA membership at the door. Full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron,knickers, and knee-length socks. No jeans or sweatpants allowed. No equipment will be available for loan at the venue so please checkthat your equipment is in good working condition before arriving. ------------------ Equipment Check ------------------ All weapons will be scored electrically. We will inspect and markmasks, lames, and body cords. Please arrive early to get yourequipment checked. You can also get your equipment checked prior to the event at thefollowing times: - Thursday, 1/29 at Rain City Fencing Center from 7:30 - 9pm - Friday, 1/30 at Salle Auriol Seattle from 8 - 9pm ------------------ Call for Directors ------------------ The WWD is looking for qualified directors to assist in directingpools and DE bouts. If you can volunteer on one or both days, youwill be paid a $40 per diem and get a free lunch! Fencersparticipating in the event that help direct after they are donefencing are eligible for a $20 per diem.
