2024 MD Division Summer National Qualifiers [Division II/III & Y14]

Event Information

This is a qualifying event for the 2024 Summer National Championships in Division II, Division III, and Y14. This event will follow the standard USA Fencing format, with a single round of pools and 100% promotion to direct elimination. There WILL be a fence-off for third place.

Event Dates & Times

Doors open at 3:00PM on Saturday and 9:00AM on Sunday. All times listed are the close of check-in, and fencers will not be allowed to check-in after the posted time. Events will begin fencing 15 minutes after the close of check-in.

If any given event has three or fewer fencers signed up by the close of registration (April 3rd), the event will not run and all registered fencers will automatically qualify.

Event times are subject to change based on the number of fencers signed up, which events have enough fencers to run, etc. However, event dates will not change; all Saturday events will stay on Saturday, all Sunday events will stay on Sunday. Any possible changes to event times will be announced on April 4th.

Eligibility

Y14: Open to fencers with a birth year of 2009-2012. Fencers must be a member of the Maryland division.

Division II/III: Open to fencers with a rating of C, D, E, or U; and a birth year of 2010 or earlier. Fencers must be a member of the Maryland division.

Fencers must have a valid USA Fencing membership at the Access level or higher. If you are not a member of USA Fencing, you can sign up here: https://member.usafencing.org/signup

Event Cost

There is a one-time $20 registration fee and a $20 event fee for each event. Fees can be paid at the door via cash or check.

Preregistration & Walk Ins

Fencers must be preregistered by April 3rd. No walk ins are allowed.

Venue Information

Modern Duelists is located in the Triumph Industrial Park at 505 Blue Ball Road, Building 205, Elkton, MD 21921, just a few minutes off of I-95. On site parking is available both in front of and to the right of the building. Our 3600 sq.ft. fencing room has five full-size strips (non-grounded), plenty of room for spectators and fencing bags, and a slip-resistant sport court tile floor. Events will run on a maximum of four strips to provide space for referees and a safe run-by area. We have a limited number of chairs, so we recommend fencers bring their own. 

Medals & Awards

Medals will be given to the top three fencers in each event.
