The Fencers Club is happy to announce an event to commemorate the fencing achievements of long time member Marcel Miernik. In addition to fencing on the U.S. 1957 World Championship Foil Team and earning an individual silver medal in foil at the 2010 Veteran World Championships, Marcel contributed to the development of fencing through his coaching of high school and college fencers. He was as skilled, elegant, and successful in epee as well as in foil. As a charter member of the SundayFencers, Marcel was valued for both his wit and his spirit, although he did not suffer fools lightly. This inaugural event will take place on June 1, 2025. It will include both foil and epee in a mixed division II level competition as a warm up for the USA Fencing Summer Nationals. First place winner in each weapon will be inscribed in a perpetual plaque, gift of Jean-Marc R, Oppenheim. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Fencers Club’s Scholarship Fund.
Entrance Fee: $60 if pre-registered, $75 if walk-in.
Format: One round of pools followed by direct elimination.
Prizes: Top 3 fencers will win medals.
If there are less than 6 fencers registered by Friday evening, we cancel the event.
Payment and Refunds:
Payments can be made in cash (preferred), credit card or check on tournament day at the door. Fencers Club does not issue refunds for tournament entry fees.
