Open mixed Epee competition welcoming fencers ages 16 and up from all clubs and experience levels. A friendly and competitive event to gain bout experience and connect with the fencing community.

Location: Athena Fencing Club – 5061 Anola Drive, Burnaby, BC

Start time: 9:00 AM sharp

Please arrive by 8:30 AM (or earlier) to check in, get gear ready, and complete weapons check.


πŸ‘Ÿ Footwear Policy

We have a no outdoor shoe policy, so please bring a clean pair of indoor fencing shoes to change into before stepping onto the piste.


πŸš— Parking, Transit & Spectators

There is free street parking around the club, but space can be limited β€” we recommend carpooling whenever possible to help ease congestion.

For those taking transit, both Brentwood and Holdom SkyTrain stations are about a 12-minute walk from the club.

Due to space limitations, we unfortunately cannot accommodate indoor spectators. However, you're welcome to watch from outside if you’d like!


πŸ’§ Water, Snacks & Eating Policy

We recommend that participants bring their own filled water bottles.

If you need snacks or drinks, there is a convenience store in the plaza nearby.

Please note: no eating is allowed inside the facility.


πŸ‘• Changing Rooms

Please be aware that we have only one washroom and an open gear-up area (with two curtain changing rooms).

To minimize wait times, we recommend arriving dressed to fence. If you need to change, please do so before arriving when possible.


πŸ’³ Payment & Refunds

Payment is collected online through Stripe during registration. Alternatively, you may send an e-transfer of $35 plus GST ($36.75 total) to athenafencingclub@gmail.com and we will mark you down as paid on AskFRED.

No payments will be accepted at the door.

Full refunds are available until 48 hours before the event. No refunds will be issued after that unless the event is canceled.


βš”οΈ Equipment

This is an electric epee event. Please bring all your own gear and make sure it’s in working order β€” we won’t have loaner gear available.

Required equipment includes:


  1. Electric epee
  2. Body cord
  3. Mask
  4. Jacket
  5. Plastron (underarm protector) – required for all participants
  6. Chest protector – required for women
  7. Fencing pants
  8. Fencing socks that cover the knee
  9. Glove
  10. Indoor fencing shoes


Please make sure all equipment is in safe and working condition. Weapons and body cords will be checked before the event begins.


🚫 Zero Tolerance Policy

Athena Fencing Club is committed to providing a respectful and inclusive environment for all participants.

We have zero tolerance for abusive, aggressive, or unsportsmanlike behaviour toward referees, athletes, volunteers, or other attendees. Anyone violating this policy may be asked to leave without refund.
