UPDATE 12/8/2023: REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED. NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. PARTICIPANTS PLEASE SEE YOUR EMAIL FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS!

This is the MN Division qualifier to the Junior Olympics (Cadet

and Junior National Championships) to be held in Charlotte, NC on

2/16-2/24/2024. All USA Fencing rules and policies apply. If you do not know which events to sign up for talk to your coach.

This is an electric fencing event. You will need full electric

gear.

All Junior(U20) events will be held before the Cadet (U17) events on the same day. Events with 3 or less competitors will NOT be fenced and all three registrants will qualify for JOs. Events with at least 4 competitors will be fenced and a fence off for third place will be held for events with less than 12 competitors.

Only the top 25% of fencers rounded up will qualify for JO. Please read the

following for more information on qualifying for this tournament: https://www.usafencing.org/news_article/show/1243888

Note: If you qualify for juniors, you are automatically

qualified for cadet events at the Junior Olympics (if your birth year falls in

the appropriate range) because of the trickle-down rule. But it does not work

the other way around, meaning cadets hoping to qualify as juniors must meet the junior requirements.

REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT WILL CLOSE ON THURSDAY DECEMBER 7th at MIDNIGHT! No exceptions to this will

be made- you are responsible for signing up on time. On Thursday, any event that has 3 or less registrations will not be held and those pre-registered will automatically qualify. No payment will be necessary for events that are not fenced. Based on the number of registrations times of events may be adjusted to ensure there is enough time and referee coverage for each event. An EMAIL will be sent to all preregistered about the times adjusted and askFred will be updated with the new times.

Fencers under 13 can compete in the Cadet event if they are on

the National Rolling Points for Y-14. Please be sure you have submitted your

age verification to USA Fencing or bring proof of age (such as birth certificate).

Minnesota Division Members Only!!! A member can declare a

Division affiliation based on his or her residence, the location of the school

that the member is attending, or the location of the club that the member will

represent in USA Fencing competitions. Each year a member must declare the Division affiliation for that membership year. That Division is then the one

from which the fencer must qualify for the USA Fencing National Championships and the Junior Olympic Fencing Championships. Only

Access level membership is required to compete in divisional qualifiers but if you want to compete in Jos you will need to upgrade to competitive membership before then. https://www.usafencing.org/membership

Important note: Fencers must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Any fencer who is a citizen or permanent resident, who has also represented another country in the last three years, in any FIE (Senior or Junior) and/or Union International de Pentathlon Modern (UIPM) event, and who has not yet been granted permission to represent the USA by USA Fencing and the FIE is not eligible for any USA Fencing National Championship competition, individual or team, including division qualifying competitions. A foreign fencer who is in the United States on a visa is NOT eligible to fence in any National Championships, individual or team, or associated division qualifying competitions. If an athlete has a Green Card, a copy of this card should be brought to the event as part of check in.
