Salmon Days Invitational Fencing Championship Join us for great fencing … along with the annual celebration of the returning salmon to lakes and streams. This two-day event draws crowds of more than 150,000 people. Salmon Days features a weekend full of salmon and free fun, including more than 300 artists, the Foods of the World, a Grande Parade, 5k and 10k runs, four stages of live entertainment, the Field of Fun, tours of Issaquah's hatchery and much more. Prizes! Cool Commemorative Salmon Days Medals! Great Food! Art, Entertainment, and Fun! Salmon Days Festival: There’s lots to see and do, so bring your family to the festival! Entry is free, and is located immediately beside the tournament venue. Also see www.salmondays.org. Check out the fencing tournament on the Web site at http://www.salmondays.org/home/sports/fencing.asp! Salmon Bake: Fresh Pacific Northwest salmon! This private dinner for fencers and their families & friends will be held at the Issaquah Holiday Inn beside its salmon-shaped swimming pool! The price will be $20 for the salmon dinner, complete with all the trimmings (alcohol not included). PLEASE email me or tell me in person if you’ll be attending this dinner. We need to know!!! (Serge@washingtonfencing.com or 425 785-7761) ---->TOURNAMENT INFORMATION Fees: Fees are $5 for pre-registration and $20 per event. The registration fee on-site will be $10. Equipment Checks: We will be checking equipment including mask, body cords, and lames. If you can show that your equipment passed at the Leon Auriol Open the weekend before, we will accept this as “passed.” ---->LOCATION, DIRECTIONS, PARKING Location: The venue is the Issaquah Community Center (where 2004-2005 Sectionals took place), located at 301 Rainier Blvd. South, Issaquah, WA 98027. Parking: Parking during Salmon Days is limited, and many roads are blocked. You can park in the Community Center parking lot, but there will be a $5 charged by the festival. If you want to park for free, you can do so on Second Avenue SE towards Issaquah High School (yes, you can drop-off equipment first). Directions: From I-90, take Exit 18 in Issaquah for Sunset Way. Bear right onto Sunset Way and continue towards town. Take a LEFT onto Second Avenue SE (the fire station will be on your right). Follow Second Avenue for about four or five short blocks, and you’ll see the Issaquah Community Center on the right. From the south (e.g., from Tacoma or I-5), take Highway 18 to Issaquah-Hobart Road. Go north, towards Issaquah. Very shortly after entering the outskirts of Issaquah, take a RIGHT at a light for Second Avenue SE. Pass the high school, and the community center is a bit farther on the left. (This is the street where you can park for free.) Travel & Accommodations: A special rate will be available at the Issaquah Holiday Inn. Otherwise, the women's events & awards will be combined with the mixed events. We WILL provide first-, second-, and third-place medals to women’s events even if they have been combined into mixed events.
