Bakersfield Senior Open Mixed Foil Tournament -OCT. 2025


SATUDAY, October 11, 2025

Events:

Senior Open Mixed Foil  -  10:00 a.m.  -capped at 21 fencers. (SENIOR= Age 13+; Born in 2012 or earlier)


Preregistration closes on Friday 10/10/2025 or when Event Caps are reached. Please contact us for late registrations.


Please pre-register for planning purposes. Kindly remove your entry or contact us directly if your plans change and you will not be able to participate, as our events are capped and we may have a waitlist.  Call or text to add participation of a fencer as a walk-on. Thank you for your consideration. 


TRAVEL:  We appreciate your willingness to travel to our event and acknowledge unpredictability in traffic and road conditions.  If you have travel issues or experience a delay in arrival time, you are welcome to call/text the bout committee (Liz Geyer 661-332-0250) to see if the event may be held open for your late check-in. 


LOCATION: Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation (KAFF) Fencing Studio, located upstairs of The Woman’s Club of Bakersfield. 2030 18th Street, 2nd Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301


VENUE: KAFF is located in a historic building in downtown Bakersfield and there is plenty of free street parking. The fencing venue is up a flight of external stairs and there is no elevator in the building. Spectator seating is limited. An equipment room is available for fencing bags. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m.


REGISTRATION: Sanctioned Event Fee is $40, ($20 for current KAFF Club Members), payable through AskFred or at the door by cash, Venmo or card.  Current USA Fencing Competitive or Access membership is required.  For 2025-26 season, fencers must be born in 2012 or earlier to compete in Senior Events.


FOOD: Please RSVP if you are interested in pitching in for Costco Pizza at $2 per slice.


CHECK-IN: Check-in opens one hour before the event.


FORMAT:  One round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for 3rd place.

AWARDS: Medals will be awarded to top 4 fencers in each event.


EQUIPMENT: Full fencing uniform is required: jacket, underarm protector, fencing knickers, socks covering legs below the knickers, glove, foil mask with conductive bib and use of mask cord. Chest protectors are required for women and must include the FIE foam padding per USA Fencing standards.


ARMORY: Sorry, we have NO armory or equipment repair on site. Our Gear Shop offers a limited selection of new Absolute Fencing Gear. Please contact us in advance if there is something specific you are looking for.
