Join us in Bakersfield for KAFF's PARAFENCING (Wheelchair Fencing) 3-Weapon Mixed Open Tournament, a developmental tournament for parafencers interested in preparing for larger parafencing events.

This is a developmental wheelchair fencing tournament for parafencers who would like to develop skills to prepare for regional and national parafencing tournaments.
You should be a PARAFENCER with a qualifying disability in order to compete (Please note: this is not a "Walk-and-Roll" combination tournament)
EVENTS:
PARA Senior Mixed Epee- 10:00 a.m.
PARA Senior Mixed Foil - 12:00 p.m.
PARA Senior Mixed Saber - 2:00 p.m.
LOCATION: The Rasmussen Senior Center, 115 E. Roberts Lane, Bakersfield, CA 93308
VENUE: The Rasmussen Senior Center is a fully accessible event venue in NE Bakersfield and there is plenty of free parking in lot adjacent to the center. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m.
PRE-REGISTRATION:
Pre-registration closes on Thursday 1/30/2025. Please contact us for late registrations.
Please pre-register for planning purposes. Kindly remove your entry or contact us directly if your plans change and you will not be able to participate, as our events are capped and we may have a waitlist. Call or text to add participation of a fencer as a late registrant. Thank you for your consideration.
FEES: Event Fee is $10 per event, maximum of $20 for 2 or more events, payable through AskFred or at the door by cash, Venmo or card. If you wish to pay on AskFred and want to preregister for all 3 events, please register for two and then contact us to pre-register you for a 3rd event at no additional charge.
USFA: Current USA Fencing Competitive or Access membership is required. For 2024-25 season, fencers must be born in 2011 or earlier to compete in Senior Events.
CHECK-IN: Check-in opens one hour before the event.
TRAVEL: We appreciate your willingness to travel to our event and acknowledge unpredictability in traffic and road conditions. If you have travel issues or experience a delay in arrival time, you are welcome to call/text the bout committee (Liz Geyer 661-332-0250) to see if the event may be held open for your late check-in.
FORMAT: One round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for 3rd place.
AWARDS: Medals will be awarded to top 4 fencers in each event.
EQUIPMENT: Full fencing uniform is required: jacket, underarm protector, fencing knickers, with socks covering legs below the knickers. Chest protectors are required for women and, for foil, must include the FIE foam padding per USA Fencing standards. The use of mask and glove appropriate to the weapon being fenced is required.
PARAFENCING EQUIPMENT NOTE: Wheelchairs will be provided for fencers who do not have their own. All chairs will be mounted in fencing frames for competition.
Epee skirts will be provided. Please bring working weapons, as there will be NO armory or equipment repair on site.
