Alabama Division Qualifiers for Junior Olympics

This event serves as a qualifier for the 2024 Junior Olympic Championships in Charlotte, NC on February 16-19, 2024.
This event is the Junior and Cadet Division Qualifier for the 2023 Junior Olympic Championships in Charlotte, NC on February 17-20, 2023. $25 registration fee, plus $25/event. MUST have a current USA Fencing COMPETITIVE Membership and be a member of the Alabama Division.
ENTRY & ELIGIBILITY:
POSTED CLOSE OF REGISTRATION TIMES ARE ESTIMATED, AND MAY BE UPDATED BY 12/3/2023.
All close of registration times are in Central Standard Time (CST). These are not the times that the events will actually start. Events will typically begin 10-15 minutes after close of registration, but absolutely NO registrations will be accepted after close of registration. NO EXCEPTIONS! Please arrive early to have your equipment checked, and allow warm-up and registration time. Venue will be opened 1 hour prior to close of registration of first event.
Registration fee is $25 + an event fee of $25 for each event entry (i.e If you pre-register for one event, you will pay a total of $50, if you pre-register for two events, you will pay a total of $75.)
The pre-registration deadline is Sunday, 12/3/2023 at 11:59:59 PM. Any pre-registrations after that time will NOT be accepted! NO WALK-INS! Registration will not be complete until payment is received and must be paid the day of the event.
If there are 3 or fewer fencers pre-registered for an event after the close of pre-registration on 12/3/2023, the event will NOT be fenced, and the fencer[s] does NOT need to attend the event.
Fencers MUST be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States (proof required). All fencers must have a CURRENT USA Fencing "Competitive" Membership and show proof (Membership ID Card) at check-in. This is a USA Fencing and Alabama Division Sanctioned event; ratings will be awarded where earned in Junior and Cadet events.
COMPETITION FORMAT:
One round of seeding pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination.
Top 25% will qualify in each event with a minimum of up to 3 qualifiers.
UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT:
Fencers are required to have complete fencing uniforms as required by USA Fencing. This includes the following items: Mask with two retaining devices (foil masks must have a conductive bib as now required), mask cord (foil/saber), jacket, plastron (underarm protector), knickers, lame (foil/saber), glove (800N saber), tall socks (must overlap knickers, proper footwear (no sandals, boots, heeled shoes, etc.), two working body cords and two working electric weapons.
Weights (foil/epee) and shims (epee) will be tested!
Masks, lames (foil/saber), gloves, cuffs (saber) and bodycords, and mask cords (foil/saber) will we checked!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Birmingham Fencing Club will be hosting a referee seminar with Rylan Delap on Saturday, 12/9. This event will also serve as an opportunity for referees to be observed for ratings in foil, epee, and sabre.
