UPDATE: 3/8/2022 - Final schedule has been posted below. The times are when check in closes. Please arrive at least 30 minutes to an hour to check in.
UPDATE: 3/4/2022 - Spectators will be allowed inside the venue. Everyone inside the venue must be vaccinated or show proof of Negative COVID Test performed within 72 hours prior to event.
The SoCal Scholastic Fencing League is proud to host its Annual Foil Team Tournament for Middle School and High School fencers.
IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, FENCERS MUST HAVE COMPETED IN ONE OF THE INDIVIDUAL (NOVICE, #1, #2) SOCAL SCHOLASTIC FENCING LEAGUE EVENTS REGARDLESS OF WEAPON.
Exemption for League Schools - can field teams of fencers who have not fenced in either Individual events or Novice as long as they abide by Varsity A rule.
COVID PROTOCOLS: As of January 13, 2021: All fencers and visitors (This applies to EVERYONE inside Venue - Fencers, Coaches, Referees, staff, etc. in attendance) must be fully Vaccinated or provide a Negative Covid 19 test that is performed 48 to 72 hours prior to the day of the tournament.
**SPECTATORS will be allowed inside the venue for this event. Must show proof of vaccination or negative COVID Test performed within 72 hours before tournament.
If you are unvaccinated - Please Provide Proof of a NEGATIVE COVID Test to be taken 48 to 72 hours before the tournament.
League School Fencers will need to submit their vaccine records or Negative Covid 19 test results to their coach by Friday, March 11, 2022.
Non-League School Fencers will need to submit their vaccine records or Negative Covid 19 test results to to Erika at evelarde@hw.com by Friday, March 11, 2022.

Please have your Coach or Team Captain sign up you team. Team Names will be your school name, unless it is a composite team. Teams will fence off for 1st through 3rd places.
UPON CHECK IN AT THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT, PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING: (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Proof of Grade (School ID, proof of enrollment (i.e. registration, letter from school stating grade, etc.)
Proof of USFA Competitive or Access Membership (copy of card showing Expiration Date)
Payment or Proof or Payment (See below for payment options)
Proof of Full Vaccination or Negative Covid Test.
TOURNAMENT FEES:
NON-LEAGUE SCHOOL (Composite) Team - Fee is $80.00 per team.
If Non-League School team is not pre-registered on Askfred by March 10, 2022 â Late registration fee is $240.00 (Triple fees)
Payment by check or cash can be made at the tournament.

TEAM LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS:
Middle School - For 6th to 8th grade fencers. (Schools can form as many Middle School Teams.)
Varsity A Team â Top 4 Fencers in High School (9th-12th grade). Each School can form one Varsity A Team. Essentially, this is your TOP 3-4 fencers. All Varsity A High School Fencers must fence in either/or both the #1 or #2 Foil Individual to be considered for a High School Varsity "A" Team for the SoCal Scholastic League Foil Team Tournament. (Only one Varsity A Team per school)
Varsity B Team â Junior or Senior (11th/12th grade) fencers with competition experience, but not at Varsity A Level. Freshman and Sophomore fencers with more than 2 years experience are eligible. Fencers with A, B, or C ratings are not allowed to fence in this event (Division 3 = D rating and below). (Schools can form as many Varsity B teams.)
Junior Varsity (JV) Team â For UNRATED fencers who are Freshman and Sophomore (9th /10th) with 1 to 2 years competitive experience or Juniors/Seniors (11th/12th) with little with 1 to 2 years competitive experience. Fencers with A, B, or C ratings are not allowed to fence in this event (Division 3 = D rating and below). (Schools can form as many JV Teams.)
Exemption for League Schools - can field teams of fencers who have not fenced in either Individual events or Novice as long as they abide by Varsity A rule.
In the event of more than four fencers from a team having a rating of 'A''B' or 'C' then the lowest rated fencer may have a waiver to fence in Var B.
Any variance -- the coach can request an exception for a rated fencer to fence down a level with petition approved by coaches present at the Team Tournament.
Variance only applies to League Schools.
Event Format - Teams are made up of 3 fencers with 1 alternate fencer. Teams of 2 fencers, will forfeit the bouts due to 3rd fencer missing. Teams will fence the best of 9 five-point bouts.
Equipment:
A full fencing Jacket (FIE not required), a plastron, a glove, and fencing knickers. Socks must cover all the leg not covered by the knickers. Women's equipment must include breast protectors made of metal or rigid material inside the jacket. All foil fencers must have a conductive foil bib on their mask. Please wear shoes with "non-marking" or white soles to all competitions.
All foil fencers must have a conductive foil bib on their mask, and all saber fencers must use a USFA Fencing approved 800N glove.
Foil Fencers: USFA Foil "Padded" chest guards will be enforced. Material must have the SEMI technical mark at the center of the upper edge, per USA Fencing Rules of Competition, section m.25.4(c)
Inspections:
Mask and gloves will be inspected by the armorer. Weapons will be tested on the strip. You will not be allowed to fence with weapons that do not conform to USFA standards.

TEMPERATURE CHECK
Temperature check will be performed prior to entry of venue. If you have a fever, you will be asked to leave.
PROOF OF VACCINATION or NEGATIVE COVID TEST
Please be prepared to show a copy of Proof of Covid Vaccination or copy of negative covid test result upon entry.
MASKING
Everyone inside the venue will be required to wear masks at all times regardless of vaccination status.
Masks must be at least two-ply (no neck gaiters). Masks must cover nose and mouth.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING
Maintain at least 6 feet apart.
No sharing of beverages or food.
No handshaking.
LIMITATIONS ON OBSERVERS
Spectators are allowed to accompany the fencer. Spectators must show Proof of covid vaccination or Negative Covid Test (72 hrs prior to event)
STAYING HOME WHEN APPROPRIATE:
If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19, are showing COVID-19 symptoms.
If you have had a close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19.
If you have any signs of the following:.
⢠Fever or feeling feverish (chills, sweating)
⢠New cough
⢠Difficulty breathing
⢠Sore throat
⢠Muscle aches or body aches
⢠Vomiting or diarrhea
⢠New loss of taste or smell
