Mixed Sabre Open - Close of Registration Change

The Mixed Sabre Open will now have a check-in close at 12:15pm (previously 11:45am). Please plan your travel and arrival accordingly.

1. Don't arrive too early. We must ensure that the youth events are fully completed, including medal ceremonies, before the Open event begins.

1. We recommend arrival at least 20 minutes before check-in closes to allow ample time for check-in and warm-up.

1. We will do our best to stay on schedule, but the Open may begin up to 30 minutes later than anticipated - we appreciate you flexibility and understanding!

Welcome to the Ohio Fencing Center Mixed Sabre OPEN - November!

We invite all Sabre fencers born 2012 or earlier to join us for OFC's very first Sabre Open! Whether you’re from Central Ohio, Cleveland, Cincinnati, or anywhere in Region 2 — or beyond — come fence, grow, and compete with us in a supportive and exciting environment.

Date: Saturday, November 15

Location: 6791 Dublin Center Drive, Dublin, OH 43017

Preregistration Opens: Wednesday, October 15

Preregistration Deadline: Wednesday, November 12

Cost: JUST $35 if pre-registered by deadline; $50 walk-ins; no registration fee!

Events: Senior Mixed Saber - this event is currently combined, but may be split into separate Men's and Women's events if registration numbers are sufficient

Capped: This event is limited to 24 fencers

Medals: Awarded separately for Men and Women to the top 4 finishers (no fence-off for third place)

Additional Prize: If the Open reaches its cap of 24 fencers, the top-placing man and top-placing woman will each receive a $75 Absolute Fencing gift card. Register early to secure your spot and be eligible for the prize!

Format:

1. One round of pools
2. 100% advancement to Direct Elimination (DE)
3. Sanctioned by the Columbus Division of USA Fencing

Schedule:

1. Arrival: Please do not arrive sooner than 11:15am to warm-up, as the Sabre Youth Cup will be running prior to the Open event.
2. Check-in/Close of Registration: 11:45am sharp - no entries will be permitted after this time, so please arrive promptly.
3. Start Time: The Open is tentatively scheduled to being at 12:00pm, but the actual start time may shift slightly depending on the conclusion of the Youth event and finalization of the Open format. Please allow for a possible delay of up to 30 minutes. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding.
4. Walk-ins: Walk-ins are welcome, but preregistration is highly encouraged to help with planning and ensure a smooth event.

1. Preregister via AskFRED
2. Deadline: Wednesday, November 12
3. Payment: Via Zelle to admin@ohiofencingcenter.com (indicate fencer name/Mixed Sabre Open in payment details)
4. Cash/Check payments: Email Teena at the club to notify after registering
5. No credit cards accepted

Participation Requirements

1. Sportsmanship-focused environment — respectful conduct is expected from all participants, coaches, and spectators
2. Current USA Fencing Membership (Access or Competitive)
3. All USA Fencing equipment rules enforced – gear check required:
4. Mask – back strap secure, seal intact
5. Glove – no holes, rips, or tape
6. Knickers and knee-high socks are mandatory
7. Clean and regulation-approved gear only
8. Two working weapons and body/mask cords

No-Show Policy:

To ensure fair access to limited spots, we are implementing a no-show policy. If you are still listed as pre-registered within 24 hours of check-in/close of registration and do not attend the event, your name will be placed on a warning list. A second no-show will result in a one-year suspension from pre-registering from Ohio Fencing Center events. During that time, you will only be allowed to enter as a walk-in and will not be able to register through AskFRED. If you know you can't attend, please remove your name from the pre-registration list in advance. It only takes a moment and helps everyone.

Liability Waiver:

> By entering this tournament, you agree to follow all current USA Fencing rules, as well as any additional policies set by Ohio Fencing Center. You understand that participation is at your own risk, and by registering, you release USA Fencing, its sponsors, Ohio Fencing Center, and all event referees from any liability related to injury or loss.

> You also consent to allow Ohio Fencing Center to seek and authorize medical treatment from any licensed physician, hospital, or clinic, should an injury or illness occur during the tournament.

> Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who remains on-site for the duration of the event.
