Join us for our South Bay Sabre Challenge, as we want to provide some competitive experience in preparation for Summer Nationals! This is a SANCTIONED EVENT. Preregistration opens on 05/18/2021. Preregistration closes on 06/16/2021. REGISTRATION: $40 per fencer per event, due at the check-in; you can pay by cash, check, credit card, Venmo/Zelle. VENUE: South Bay Fencing Academy, 1450 W228th St, Unit #1, Torrance, CA 90501; free parking available. WEAPON CONTROL: Full weapon check will be in place; fencers will be able to purchase fencing gear on site if necessary. Please make sure your fencing gear is in good order and clean, as our armorer have the right to decline checking unwashed or uncleaned equipment. FORMAT: for every event: 1 round of pools, all fencers will be promoted to the direct elimination round. AWARDS: Top 8 fencers for each event will receive their medal. The winner of every event will be awarded with a certificate for a one-day pass for the South Bay Fencing Academy International Camp (August 16-24th, 2021). EVENT SCHEDULE: Saturday, June 19th: - 9:00am: Y14 Women's Sabre - 11:30am: Y12 Men's Sabre - 1:00pm: Junior Men's Sabre - 4:30pm: Y10 Women's Sabre Sunday, June 20th: - 9:00am: Junior Women's Sabre - 12:00pm: Y12 Women's Sabre - 2:00pm: Y14 Men's Sabre - 4:30pm: Y10 Men's Sabre COVID-19 GUIDELINES In order to comply with local and nationals guidelines, all the events will be capped. Walk-ins will be admitted (assuming the event has still open spots); the entry fee for walk-in fencers is $60. Face coverings will be required for every person attending the tournament in any capacity (fencers, coaches, referees, armorers, bout committee, parents) at all times. Temperature checks and the CDC self-screening questionnaire will be mandatory for anyone entering the building; all participants will be required to sign a waiver before entering the building. Parents/Spectators will not be admitted on the fencing area, but they will be able to overlook the tournament from our outdoor seating area. One coach per club will be allowed on the fencing floor. Hand sanitizing stations will be available all over the fencing areas. Fencers should not touch the scoring machine, remote and scoresheet. Fencers are not required to sign the score sheet or DE slips. Results will be posted in the venue. And results will be uploaded to Fred upon completion of events.
