Referee clinic with Mark Stasinos Attendees need to attend a clinic, pass the online weapon exam, and be observed before earning a referee rating. Thursday session will be Zoomed for those out of town. Successful candidates may be observed at the SYC/RCC

Referee clinic with Mark Stasinos OUT OF TOWN ATTENDEES We realize some of you want to attend, but because you are out of town, you won't be able to attend the Thursday session in person. For these individuals, we are going to make the Thursday session available by Zoom. If you are interested in this, please send an email with Stasinos Referee Seminar in the subject line to Brenda Waddoups: info@fenceintexas.org You will have to attend Friday evening in person. This session will be at the Arlingon ESports Stadium a 5pm. Attendees will need to attend a clinic, take the online weapon exam, and be observed at a tournament before earning a referee rating. Attendees who earn a rating at the North Tx Roundup SYC/Cadet will have $50 reimbursed. Preregistration opens on 07/28/2022. Preregistration closes on 08/31/2023. Location: Fencing Institute of Texas 1000 West Crosby Road, Suite 134 Carrollton, Texas 75006 (972) 242-0399 Mark Stasinos, Certified Referee Instructor, has been in the sport 51 years, is a Fencing Master in all 3 weapons certifying in Switzerland in 1986. He has been an active referee Nationally and Internationally and an Instructor for the past 36 years as well as serving in the leadership in numerous positions within USA Fencing and as Head Referee For NCAA Fencing. He will conduct a Referee Seminar for those seeking to referee; improve their personal game though a greater understanding of concepts, rules and applications of rules; coaches wanting to become current on the latest changes to concepts and rules from the FIE; and parents wanting to understand the actions and applications in support of their fencers and clubs. To become a certified referee one must complete a seminar, take the online exam passing the general section and weapon section by 90 percent and have a practical evaluation and observation. The Seminar will cover Foil, Epee and Sabre, competition protocols and rules, right-of-way, penalties, field of play rules and responsibilities and overview of Wheelchair refereeing. Schedule: Thursday, September 1, 5-9PM a Fencing Institute of Texas; Friday, September 2, 5-9 PM at Arlington ESports Stadium. Those attendees who earn a rating of 10 or higher at the North Texas Roundup SYC/RCC (cadet) will have $50 reimbursed.
