To become a certified referee in the US you need to: - attend the referee development clinic - pass the online referee exam which includes the general section and weapon specific sections - be observed by a certified referee to get a referee rating The clinic will highlight the importance of the rules and procedures to become an excellent referee. It will address the following topics and more: - requirements of becoming a referee in all 3 weapons - the role of referees and how to become better as a referee - referee hand signals, vocabulary, and presentation - code of ethics - penalty cards and P-cards - video replay - weapon checks - protest and appeal - topic during the bout - how to call actions - strip rules - how to get hired This referee clinic is designed for: - developing referees - athletes - coaches - parents Cost: $75 per person payable by cash or check. The class will be held at Ataba Fencing Club.
