National Referee Assigner, instructor and observer Mark Stasinos will be at FIT to provide a referee seminar and advanced rules. Second half of seminar at Dallas Mkt Hall Friday at 6pm.

This is a two-day seminar for absolute beginners and referees who want new, advanced information about changing rules for foil, epee and sabre. Mark Stasinos is a Master Coach and brings a great insight to what referees should look for and how to apply their technique, how to handle upset fencers/coaches/parents, and application of rules.. His student, Julie Seal, is rocking the World Veteran scene in both foil and sabre. Mark also coached Shelby Jensen Mitchell PLY, 2024 Parafencing Sabre

National Champion.


DAY 1: 5pm at Fencing Institute of Texas, 1000 West Crosby Rd #134, Carrollton, TX

Mark will cover the basics of referee rules. Students will have an opportunity to guide the discussion to areas they are interested in, including Parafencing.


Day 2: 6pm at Dallas Market Hall MAIN Hall, 2200 N. Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX (venue for the Wang Memorial that weekend)

The second day will cover more of the rules you may not be familiar with and changes that are occurring in the three weapons.


Parking is free at both venues.


All fees go directly to Mr. Stasinos. Students who pass the written test may be observed Saturday and/or Sunday at the Wang Memorial. All attendees must have signed their referee contract (in your USA Fencing member profile). If you are 18 or older, you will need to have a background check and take SafeSport training before you may be observed. Students who take the seminar, pass the written comprehensive and at least one weapon test, and earn a rating at the Wang will receive $45 refund. Anyone who is increasing their rating is paid honoraria in accordance with the NTFTC if they are a hired referee.


Those who become rated referees will go on the Region 5 list of available referees and possibly be paid to referee local and Regional tournaments.
