Join The Bay Cup and AFM for a veteran/adult epee training clinic led by veteran fencer/coaches Sandra Marchant and Mark Wheeler!
The Bay Cup and the Academy of Fencing Masters are pleased to present this veteran/adult epee training clinic, "Reinforcing + Expanding Your Toolkit!" with Sandra Marchant and Mark Wheeler.
The focus of this clinic will be to build effectiveness and confidence in the execution of your offensive and defensive actions through focused practice and bouting. This clinic will give you a chance to practice and hone your actions, experiment with new actions and tactics, and practice different bouting strategies. Example: have a good fleche in lessons and practice but have trouble pulling the trigger while competing? This is the clinic for you!
We will be doing light warmups and footwork but the focus will be to work on your actions in drills and bouting. This clinic is recommended for Intermediate/Advanced Fencers and is open to fencers age 18 and older.The clinic will be limited to 36 participants.
Saturday session: 2:30pm-6:30pm with pizza-fest after
Sunday session: 9am - 5pm (with a lunch break, of course!)
Early-bird registration = $195 (through August 14, 2024)
Regular registration = $225 (after August 14, 2024)

ABOUT SANDRA
Sandra has been fencing for over 25 years and coaching for 19 years. Sandra is an active competitor on the veteran epee circuit and has been a finalist in over 30 National / International competitions. In 2011 she won both gold medals at the annual Can/Am Cup in the Vet Open and Vet Age age events and in 2014 won double gold medals at the North American Cup in Minneapolis, MN in the Vet Open and Vet Age events. In 2024 she took V50WE gold at both the January and April NACs! She made the world team in 2020, 2021, 2022 and again in 2024 and will be competing in Dubai in October.
She earned her Moniteur certification in epee and foil in 2011. She is the Head Coach and co-founder of Rogue Fencing Academy in Woodbridge, CT and was previously the Varsity Head Coach at Greens Farms Academy, the Head Epee Coach at Fairfield Fencing Academy and Professor / Instructor at Quinnipiac University. In 2016 her High School Men's Foil Team won the Connecticut State Championships and in 2018 her High School Men's Epee Team won the State Championship. Her students have gone on to fence at Sacred Heart University, Vassar, Haverford, Stevens and Drew.
ABOUT MARK
Mark has been fencing for over 45 years and coaching for over 15 years. Mark earned his Moniteur certification in epee and foil in 2011 and has experience working with
beginners to national champions and youth to veterans. Mark has been coaching his students at regional and national competitions for over 10 years. His veteran epee students have medaled in NACs and National Championships and made world teams.
Mark is an active competitor on the veteran epee circuit and has been a finalist in over 10 veteran NACs and National Championships. He won the Vet 60 Epee Championship at the Summer Nationals in 2015, earned a berth on the 2015 national veteran team, and competed at the veteran world championships in Limoges, France.
He has been involved in developing and coordinating epee training clinics for The Bay Cup since 2013, working with Michael Marx, Cody Mattern, Soren Thompson, and Sandra Marchant.
