This three-hour clinic, the final session of the 2025–2026 season, will focus on long defense in sabre fencing.
This three-hour clinic, the final session of the 2025–2026 season, will focus on long defense in sabre fencing. Over the course of the clinic, participants will:
Develop control of distance and timing, and learn how manipulating distance supports the successful execution of defensive actions.
Explore the range of actions available to a defender, including the advantages and trade-offs of each.
Engage in discussion and guided scenarios focused on the mental approach to defending—how to manage pressure, influence your opponent, and “flip the script” to regain tactical control during a touch.
Participants will take part in targeted drills and controlled bouting situations designed to reinforce these concepts in realistic competitive scenarios.
By the end of the clinic, participants will leave with a stronger understanding of how to operate effectively in the long-defensive space, along with greater confidence in maintaining control and staying engaged even when they do not have right-of-way.
This clinic will run from 10 AM until 1:30 PM.
