GRAFA Foil and Epee Camp with Notre Dame Coach Gia Kvaratskhelia & GRAFA Coaches Mikhail & Arkadiy Sarkisov After it was placed on hold due to COVID, we are happy to resume our highly successful camp program with coach Gia Kvaratskhelia, Notre Dame Head Fencing Coach, who leads the Notre Dame fencing squad to NCAA Champions 2011, 2012, 2021 and most recently National Champions 2022. This is a third of the series of four quarterly camps with coach Gia. Maestros Mikhail and Arkadiy Sarkisov, the head coaches of GRAFA, will be the instructors along with Coach Gia. Both Maestros hold a BS degree in Physical Education from Russian University and a Masters’ degree in Fencing. They were Gold Medalists of the Soviet Union in 1985, medalists at the USSR Nationals from 1986-1989, and finalists at the World Cup and Student World Game competitions. In 2005 Maestro Mikhail Sarkisov has been recognized by US Olympic Committee as Developmental Coach of the Year. Many of his students successfully compete on National and International levels. The Maestros trained several USA National Champions. Several of the Maestros students successfully fenced on NCAA Championships, earning First Team All American, Honor, and All American Recognition competing for the universities such as Northwestern, Notre Dame, Temple, NYU, and Cornell. THE FULL PAYMENT IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION AND RESERVE THE SPOT IN THE CAMP. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE ***Tuition: $250.00 including the meals. Day 1 lunch will be catered by a local pizza parlor. Day 2 lunch will be variety of the different sandwiches Camp Schedule: Fri. 04/29 6:30 PM -7 PM Registration. 7-9 PM Open fencing and evaluation of the fencers. Sat. 04/30 10 AM - 12:30 PM Conditioning, footwork, theory, strategy drills 1:30 PM – 4 PM Bouts based on strategy Sunday 05/01 11:00AM -12:30PM Instruction, drills 12:30 PM- 1:30 PM Lunch 1:30 PM – 3:45 PM Conditioning, footwork, theory, strategy drills. 3:45-4:00 PM Social time, during this time fencers, must be picked up by their parents. 4 PM -GRAFA closed
