Get ready for the new season with a 2-day Labor Day foil camp, focusing on tournament skills: mental preparation, tactical setup, and a lot of situational bouting!
Prepare for the upcoming fencing season by upgrading your tournament skills. Selecting your tactic, creating your setup, and changing based on new information are skills which are every bit as important as footwork and disengages. So is managing your anxiety and expectations; the best mindset makes each competition rep a great opportunity.
Over this 2-day camp, we'll explore:
- Mindset Manipulation: Can you hack your brain to get the most out of every moment?
- Predictions, Plans, & Preparations: Can you win the touch before the referee says "fence?" Are there setups which solve multiple problems, allowing you to stack the deck if you predict wrong?
- Situational Setpieces: Prepare for common situations in advance, so you have a well-formed plan in stressful moments.
- Resilience 101: How do we respond when things go wrong?
Cost: $200 ($100 for athletes in an RTF program).
Times: Camp runs from 9a - 4p daily, with a 60min lunch break (12-1 or so).
At RTF, Darius Wei (foil) and Jacek Huchwajda (sabre) have crafted an environment dedicated to constant improvement. Whether you're a member of the RTF family or a guest, you'll learn useful skills in a fun, welcoming community.
