BIDA FENCING ACADEMY
SUMMER NATIONALS CONDITIONING CAMP
Physical Foundation for the Most Important Competition of the Season
This camp is built around one core principle:
Before athletes can perform well at Summer Nationals, they must be physically ready to handle the pressure, volume, intensity, and fatigue of a major national competition.
The BFA Summer Nationals Conditioning Camp is a dedicated physical preparation camp focused on strength, endurance, speed, coordination, injury prevention, and overall athletic readiness for Summer Nationals.
This is not random fitness training.
This is structured conditioning with a clear competitive purpose: to help athletes arrive at Summer Nationals stronger, more prepared, more resilient, and better able to maintain their level throughout the competition.
WHY THIS CAMP MATTERS
Summer Nationals is one of the most important events of the fencing season.
Athletes often do not lose only because of technique or tactics. They lose because they cannot maintain their level through long competition days, repeated bouts, emotional pressure, and physical fatigue.
This camp is designed to help athletes build the physical base they need before the most important competition of the season.
Training focuses on:
• strength and power development
• speed, agility, and coordination
• endurance and work capacity
• injury prevention and body resilience
• movement efficiency and balance
• physical readiness for competition pressure
• recovery habits and athletic discipline
The goal is to prepare the body so the athlete can fence with more stability, confidence, and consistency when it matters most.
WHAT THIS CAMP IS ABOUT
This camp is focused on general physical preparation for fencing.
The goal is not to increase random fencing volume. The goal is to build the physical foundation that supports high-level performance at Summer Nationals.
Athletes will work on the physical qualities that directly affect fencing performance:
• explosive movement
• footwork stability
• ability to repeat actions under fatigue
• better coordination and balance
• stronger legs, core, and back
• improved endurance for long competition days
• reduced injury risk before a major event
This is how serious athletes prepare before national-level competition.
WHY CONDITIONING BEFORE SUMMER NATIONALS IS IMPORTANT
At the highest level, preparation must be structured.
Before a major competition, athletes need more than just bouts. They need the physical base that allows them to keep their technique, timing, decision-making, and emotional control under pressure.
Without proper physical preparation, athletes often become tired too early, lose concentration, slow down, make technical mistakes, or cannot recover properly between bouts.
This camp is designed to help athletes avoid that.
TRAINING ENVIRONMENT
BFA uses a serious and structured training approach inspired by national team and Olympic-level preparation systems.
Training will focus on athletic development, competition readiness, and physical preparation specifically for fencing.
When needed, conditioning work may take place in a professional athletic environment suitable for speed work, coordination, explosive movement, and full-body conditioning.
WHO THIS CAMP IS FOR
This camp is recommended for:
• fencers preparing for Summer Nationals
• athletes planning to compete at national-level events
• athletes who want to improve strength, endurance, and physical readiness
• fencers who want to reduce injury risk before a major competition
