FRED Announces the WWD Junior Olympic Qualifiers

December 13, 2025 November 29, 2025

at Salle Auriol Seattle Rain City Fencing Center.

The registration deadline for JOs this season is December 10th, so to accommodate that, we are moving this tournament to November 29, 2025. The SAS RJCC on December 6th-7th can also provide qualification for JOs, but due to scheduling constraints, we will need to host this qualifying tournament before the SAS RJCC.

Fencers who paid to register for this event and then can no longer attend due to the date change may unregister and get a full refund.

We are moving the date of this event to December 13th 2025 to accommodate the SAS RJCC which will be held on December 6-7. Qualification via Regional points will take into account Regional results from December 11th 2024 to December 10th 2025, so the December 6-7 RJCC falls within that window. Fencers who have accumulated 120 Regional Junior points by December 10th 2025 will qualify for the Junior (and if eligible by age, also Cadet) event at JOs. Fencers who have accumulated 120 Regional Cadet points by December 10th 2025 will qualify for the Cadet event at JOs. If after the December 6-7 RJCC at SAS, a fencer still does not have 120 points in their desired event, then they should sign up for this event.

Fencers without sufficient national or regional points who want to fence at JOs in January must qualify at this event. In each event, the top 25% (rounded up) will qualify for JOs, with a minimum of 3. Therefore, if 3 or fewer fencers are registered for an event, the event will not be fenced and all will qualify.

Fencers that earn qualification at the Junior events will automatically for the corresponding Cadet event if they are age-eligible. That includes the qualifications that happen on the day of the competition.

We are implementing the same process for JO Qualifiers that we have used the past few years. This process will save everyone time and money. Please read the following carefully.

First, all entries must be pre-registered and paid on AskFred by 11:59 PM on November 22nd. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER THE ENTRY DEADLINE.

After the entry deadline, we will send an email announcing the following:

If an event has 3 or fewer fencers that are not already qualified, the event will not be fenced. All of the fencers that are registered will be considered qualified.

If an event needs to be fenced, we will announce where and when the event will be held.

Times will be posted for events that need to fenced after the close of registration on November 29th. Times have been updated such that the Junior events will precede the Cadet events so that fencers may sign up for both.

-------- Entry Fees ---------

All fencers must pay the mandatory $10 registration fee when they sign up on AskFred.

If an event needs to be fenced, each fencer will need to pay an ADDITIONAL $20 in CASH on the day of the event (to cover the cost of hiring referees.)

-------- Tournament Rules --------

Cadet events are open to fencers born in 2009-2012.

Junior events are open to fencers born in 2006-2012.

Since this is a national qualifier, all competitors must be current members of the USFA Western Washington Division and US citizens or permanent residents.

Please join or renew your USFA membership online at https://www.usafencing.org/membership prior to registering on AskFred.

For events that are fenced, full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron, knickers, and knee-length socks. No jeans or sweatpants allowed. Saber fencers must have the 800N glove.

We will inspect and mark masks, lames, body cords, head cords, and gloves. Equipment inspection will be done on the day of the tournament.
