MTFC In House Foil/Epee Team Event

MTFC members only foil and épée team tournament -- fun event format with coaching. WE ARE NOT DOING SABER--sign up for "saber" if you are willing to coach during the event.
INTRODUCTION: Please join us for an in-house (Metro Tacoma Fencing Club members only), unsanctioned, foil and epee team event. All ages and abilities welcome! The focus of this event will be to get to know one another better, to meet fencers at different levels of experience, to cheer each other on, to improve your skills with coaching along the way, and most importantly to have fun.
EVENT SCHEDULE: Sunday 2/22/2026 at 1 PM close of registration at Metro Tacoma Fencing Club (MTFC).
EVENT FORMAT: Fencers must be an active MTFC members to participate. This is an unusual event format to have the best opportunity for all our fencers to mix and get to know each other while having a fun afternoon of fencing. It is going to be an event of 2 foil and 2 epee fencers per team fencing against other 2 foil and 2 epee teams. Each foil fencer will fence the two foil fencers on the other team. Each epee fencer will fence the two epee fencers on the other team. If there are only a few teams we will have a big pool without direct elimination. If we have a medium number of teams we may have two pools and direct elimiation for the top two teams only. If there are lots of teams we will go directly to an elimination table with all places fenced. There will be more experienced fencers who sign up as coaches who can call a time out anytime for the 5 touch bout (much like in college fencing). Coach Toby will set up the teams to try to balance them before the event. You do not need to form your own team. But feel free to think of a fun team name.
SIGN-UP: If you want to fence foil or epee then sign up for only that ONE weapon. If you would be willing to fence either weapon then sign up for BOTH foil and epee. We do not have saber at our club which will be where you sign up if you are interested in BEING A COACH for the event.
COST: Event fee is $20 per fencer for fencers signed up on AskFRED, billed to your MTFC account. Event fee is $30 per fencer billed to your MTFC account if you show up and have not signed up on AskFRED--just sign up now! If you sign up as a coach we will not charge you and would love for you to share your experience, wisdom, expertise, and tips with the younger fencers.
PRIZES: There will be prizes. Probably food related. Probably not medals unless we find some extras. There will also be a coach prize for the coach whose team does the best.
