This is the official qualifier for Summer Nationals 2025. South Carolina Division Fencers in Y14, DIV2/DIV3/VET [combined] categories are encouraged to attend.


ENTRY & ELIGIBILITY (UPDATED):


Registration has officially closed for National Qualifiers. Event times are as follows:


8:00 AM: Doors Open


8:30 AM: Registration closes for Div 2 Men's Foil, Women's Foil, and Men's Saber


11:15 AM-12:15 PM: Division Meeting


12:30 PM: Registration closes for Div 2 Men's Epee


All other events with 3 or less fencers have auto qualified. What this means is that fencers who fall into this category do not have to attend qualifiers in Columbia on April 19th. The names of the fencers will be submitted to the national office once national qualifiers have concluded. 


For fencers attending the qualifiers, be sure to arrive early and be ready to fence to ensure that each event runs as efficiently as possible.

DIVISION MEETING:


The SC annual division meeting will occur once fencing concludes April 19th. We encourage fencers, parents, club owners, and anyone else interested in the health and growth of fencing in South Carolina to attend. Officers for the 2025-2026 season will also be elected.


Proper equipment and clothing is required. Masks, gloves, lames, and cuffs (saber) will be checked by the armorer.


A USA Fencing membership is required to compete in qualifiers. You must have proof of your USA Fencing membership and your membership number at the time of check-in. Fencers must have ATLEAST an Access membership to participate in the event. ONLY members of the SC Division of USA Fencing may compete in this qualifier.


DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIPS


Eligibility:

Fencers must have a classification in the weapon of C, D, E, or Unclassified at the time of the qualifying competition and be 13 years of age by January 1 of the current season.


Qualification:

Fencers must Place in the top 25% of the total number of fencers competing in the 2025 SC Division Division II Qualifying competition OR


Be on the current season's Div I-A Regional Open Circuit (ROC) Regional Point Standings OR


Be on the Div II ROC Regional Point Standings

OR


Place in the top 40% of any current season Div II or Div I NAC


DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIPS


Eligibility:

Fencers must have a classification in the weapon of C, D, E, or Unclassified at the time of the qualifying competition AND be at least 13 years old by January 1 of the current season.


Qualification:

Fencers must Place in the top 25% of the total number of fencers competing in the 2025 SC Division Division III OR Div II Qualifying competition

OR


Be on the Division I-A or Division II Regional Open Circuit point standings, if classification eligible, on TBD

OR


Place in the top 40% at 2022 Div III, Div II or DIV I NAC OR


Qualified for Division II, if classification eligible



YOUTH 14 CHAMPIONSHIPS


Eligibility:

Fencers must have been born between 2010 and 2013.


Qualifying Path:

Be on the Youth 14 point standings as of TBD

OR

Place in the top 25% of the 2025 SC Division Youth 14 Qualifying competition

OR

Be in the top 16 of the Y12 national point standings on TBD

OR

Earn at least 150 Y14 Regional Points during the current season(Total points = fencer's top 3 point results)


Veteran (V40, V50, V60, V70+) National Championship


Eligibility:

For each Veteran age group fencers must meet the birth years specified in Table 2.5.1


Qualification:

Must meet eligibility requirements above AND

Compete in the current season's division qualifying competition for Division II and/or Division III Championships OR


Compete in any ROC event during the current season OR


Compete in any NAC during the current season OR


Be on the Veteran Age Group national rolling points standings (NRPS) by TBD OR


Be on the Veteran Combined regional point standings by TBD


National age eligibility requirements will be enforced (Read more here: http://www.usafencing.org/age-classification-eligibility ; however, fencers with points in the next lower age category who do not otherwise meet age eligibility are allowed to fence;

This is a USA Fencing and South Carolina Division Sanctioned event; ratings will be awarded where earned.


COMPETITION FORMAT:


One round of seeding pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination round.


UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT:


Fencers are required to have complete fencing uniforms as required by USA Fencing. This includes the following items: Mask with two retaining devices aka straps (foil masks must have a conductive bib as now required), mask cord (foil/saber), jacket, plastron (underarm protector), knickers, lame (foil/saber), glove (800N saber), tall socks (must overlap knickers, proper footwear (no sandals, boots, heeled shoes, etc.), two working body cords and two working electric weapons.


Weights (foil/epee) and shims (epee) will be tested!

Masks, lames, and saber gloves/cuffs will we tested/checked!
