Wagner College Divison 1 NCAA Head Coach David Sierra will be leading an informative and exciting session on the world of NCAA Fencing, followed by a practical session on mental performance and competition techniques. Topics to be covered will include the NCAA recruiting process, the Collegiate Fencing Experience, and how to best position yourself for NCAA fencing. This clinic is open to any and all high-school and earlier Prospective Student Athletes and parents in all three weapons.


Cost $100/athlete paid on askFRED if registered by 9/8/2024, or $120 at the door.


Schedule


  1. Noon- 1:30 PM There will be an informative presentation and plenty of time for questions and answers about the NCAA fencing experience and related topics. Parents are especially welcome to attend this portion with their children!


  1. 1:30 - 4 PM Coach Sierra will be leading a practice session focusing on mental performance and competition preparation. Bring full bouting gear respective for your weapon! Expect exercises on problem solving, in-bout adaptation, and techniques to achieve, maintain, and recover competition focus in challenging environments.


Coach David Sierra is the Head Coach at Wagner College, a Division 1 NCAA institution located in Staten Island, New York. He also is a member of the NCAA Fencing Championships Committee, and a regular participant in the "College Conversations" seminars hosted by USA Fencing at North American Cups. He is committed to athlete-centered coaching and making sure that athletes who would like to participate in fencing at the NCAA level have every opportunity to prepare themselves. Coach Sierra is a certified Maître d'Armes by the United States Fencing Coaches Association and the Academy d'Armes Internationale. In two seasons as the Head Coach of the Seahawks, he has led the program to a record number of regional qualifiers and the first NCAA qualifier for Wagner College.


About Zeta Fencing

Zeta's well-lit facility with AC features 12 full length fencing strips and wireless scoring machines. There is a changing room and a comfortable visitor viewing area with free wifi. There is plenty of free parking around the building and across the street. A local coffeeshop with bakery and sandwiches is next door.
