Members only introduction to competitive fencing for athletes and guardians. Fencers will compete and parents will participate in a workshop to learn about managing their athletes!

Welcome to competitive fencing! This members-only unsanctioned event is designed as an introduction for new competitors and their families. During the tournament, we will go over every element of the standard tournament experience. This is not a drop-off event: a special parent clinic will run alongside the athletes' warmup.


Events Scheduled: Please sign up for the youngest event for which you (your athlete) are eligible.


Youth:

  1. Y10 Mixed Foil, eligible birth years: 2013-2016
  2. Y12 Mixed Foil, eligible birth years: 2011-2014


Teens:

  1. Junior (U20) Mixed Foil, eligible birth years: 2004-2010


Adults:

  1. Unrated Senior Mixed Foil, eligible birth years: 2010 or earlier


Dates/Times:

Preregistration opens on February 19, 2024.

Preregistration closes on Friday, May 3, 2024.

As a convention of fencing, the time of each event is listed on the Who's Coming page.

  1. Youth Fencers (12 and under): 12:00 - 2:30
  2. Junior/Cadet & Adult Fencers (13+): 2:30 - 5:00


Payment: This special members-only practice tournament is included with Fencing Academy of Philadelphia membership.


Required: In order to compete, every athlete must have a current USA Fencing membership (Access or higher).


Equipment: Please bring your entire fencing kit. Fencers with electric gear should bring it; fencers without a complete electric kit should request loaner gear from their coach.


Arrival: The venue opens one hour before the first close of check-in for the day; athletes should arrive no later than one hour before their close of check-in so they have time to prepare for event start.


Parking: On-street parking is free, unmetered, and relatively abundant.


Infectious Disease, Emergencies, & Cancellations: Please stay home if you have had contact with anyone known or suspected to have covid-19, the flu, or other serious contagious disease. Illness and injury are the rare situations where you may (and should!) cancel all the way up to the day of the event. Please call or text 267.966.5610 to advise us of cancellation in a true emergency.
